Lent IV – Year B (2018)

Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 107:1-3,17-22; Ephesians 2:1-10; John 3:14-21

Rev. Dr. Tim Connor

Lent is a desert place that reminds us of a time of wandering in the wilderness. It evokes memories of the people of Israel in the desert, disobedient but still provided for by God. The message of our culture is about autonomy, pursuing our own goals alone with little room for God’s leading. The gospel speaks of reconciliation, drawing us continuously toward greater reliance on God and obedience to His word. We look toward the cross, a symbol of light, life and God’s steadfast love and mercy.
