Proper 22 – Year A (2017)

Exodus 3:1-15; Psalm 105:1-6,23-26,45c; Romans 12:9-21; Matthew 16:21-28

Rev. Dr. Tim Connor

The way of the cross challenges conventional notions of life. Rather than a vision of reigning in splendour, Jesus paints a picture of the Messiah’s kingdom that is built on service and sacrifice. Too often, we govern our daily lives around expectations of what we will gain. We are challenged to shift our focus away from what we can do to secure our own circumstances and think instead in terms of what we can give to benefit others.
