First Sunday After Christmas – Year B

Isaiah 61:10–62:3; Psalm 148; Galatians 4:4-7; Luke 2:22-40

Rev. Dr. Tim Connor

In the gift of Jesus we gain a glimpse of God’s glory and of redemption. Isaiah tells of the Messiah coming among God’s people to bring hope, joy and redemption so that they might be adopted as children of God. In the Christmas story the coming of Jesus is the act by which God sets us free from the forces of the world around us that bear on our lives, making us less than we could be. We have good reason to be people of love because God sent his son among us.
