Easter II – Year A

Acts 2:14a, 22-32; Psalm 16;  1 Peter 1:3-9;  John 20:19-31

Rev. Dr. Tim Connor

Nobody saw what happened at the tomb. Instead, we see Peter and the disciples transformed, declaring boldly, “This Jesus, God has raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses.”  Resurrection speech is a discourse about the dying and rising of Jesus and how that plays out in our daily lives. It is the wellspring of our faith, acknowledging real events put into the broad narrative of the might acts of God in human history. It is the language of miracles, not explanation, both in its source and its reception.  When we pray for renewal we are asking for boldness in sharing God’s word with others.
